Avianca and Norwegian disembark in Jujuy

October 10, 2018 - By Joseph Taylor

The commercial market of Jujuy will be enhanced by the arrival in 2019 of two new airlines, Avianca and Norwegian, and an increase in the frequencies of existing flights.

The expansion of the air supply in the province is given by a “remarkable work of tourism promotion at national and international level” and the consequent “growth” of tourism, said the local Tourism Minister, Federico Posadas.

It also ratified the renewal of airport infrastructure, which will “double the capacity” of the Jujuy air terminal, through an ongoing mega-project whose first phase will end in March.

“In size and logistics, it will be one of the most important airports in the interior of the country,” Posadas said. He added that until now “when more than three flights came together, it was operationally a bottleneck, but now it will be possible to operate with domestic and international flights at the same time”.

Avianca Argentina, according to the official, “already reserved a space in the facilities of the new airport and intends to operate in Jujuy since April with two daily flights to Córdoba, a province that will function as a hub to connect to Mendoza, Rosario, Buenos Aires and Resistencia “

Before the end of the first half of 2019, the arrival of Norwegian is expected, which according to Posadas “began operating this month in Argentina and (…) will reach other tourist cities, where Jujuy enters.”
